Stories of Hope

Lella

Liver Recipient / Delta, CO

“Lella would not have lived without our donor family’s lifesaving gift. They are an amazing family that we now feel blessed to be part of,” said Lella’s mother.

At two months old Lella was diagnosed with biliary artresia, a rare condition that closes the tube that drains the bile from the liver into the intestine. After undergoing a five-hour surgery, doctors discovered Lella’s case was particularly rare and determined she would need a liver transplant.

After being on the waiting list for more than a month, Lella received a new liver at just seven months old.

Now an active, healthy and exceptionally happy little girl, Lella plays t-ball, swims and loves to read.
