Stories of Hope

Jaime

Cornea Recipient / Aurora, CO

“We now understand the huge impact that one person can make and how important it is to be active in supporting organ, eye and tissue donation.”

When Jaime was just six years old, he developed aggressive cataracts on both eyes. They grew so quickly he was nearly blind within four weeks of being diagnosed. Six months after having surgery on both eyes, surgeons determined Jaime’s right cornea had sustained damage from the surgery and was in need of a cornea transplant.

After receiving a successful partial cornea transplant, Jaime has a new perspective on life. Jaime’s mother is also forever grateful for the new opportunity given to her son to see life and all of its beautiful colors.

As passionate advocates for organ, eye and tissue donation, Jaime and his family volunteer with Donor Alliance and the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Bank to raise awareness about the importance of saying ‘yes’ to donation.
