Donate Life Specialty License PlateWith nearly 2,000 people currently waiting for an organ transplant in Colorado, save lives today by registering to be an organ and tissue donor at DonateLifeColorado.org or the next time you receive or renew your driver’s license. On behalf of Donate Life Colorado, the state’s organ and tissue donor registry, we are pleased to announce the creation of Colorado’s new specialty Donate Life license plate. This effort was accomplished thanks to the 4,000 people who signed a petition, enabling the license plate to be introduced. The plate will become available for purchase on January 1, 2010 at various Division of Motor Vehicle (DMV) locations throughout the state of Colorado. About the plateBeginning January 1st, the law will require that a minimum of 3,000 Donate Life plates be in circulation by July 1, 2013. In order to meet this requirement, we are encouraging Colorado’s transplant-related organizations, community, volunteers and those who have been impacted by organ and tissue donation to assist in promoting the plate by purchasing one for your vehicle. What does it cost? The plate can be purchased for a one-time $50 fee at any time of year and does not need to coincide with registration renewal. Funds generated from plate sales will go back to the State of Colorado. $25 will be contributed to the Highway Users Tax Fund and $25 will go towards the Licensing Services Cash Fund. Where do I go for more information? After January 1st, 2010, you will be able to locate additional information about the Donate Life license plate, by visiting the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Web site. Donor Alliance is partnering with other donation-related organizations that will also provide this specialty license plate information on their Web sites: |
